STARTING YOUR OWN SITE

If you want to make a totally free abandonware use the following stuff:

1st you will need to make your web pages try geocities or tripod for this if you don't know any Html (like me) or you could try 50 megs (can also store small games)

2nd you need somewhere to put your downloads so people can get to them, try brinkster (this is a good usually reliable site that gives you 30 megs of space that can also host web pages).

3rd you will need some redirection so you don't have a giant address like www.geocities.com/mysite instead you can have an address like mysite.cjb.net which will also be easier to remember. CJB will give you a free cjb.net address in return for a few pop-ups on your site.

4th you need extras to make your site interesting Bravenet offers an awful lot of free extras like guestbooks, forums, mailing list, redirection as well and many other things.

5th you need to join rings to help you get visitors.

6th you will need friends/allies to give you news about the scene and to give you opinions etc (yes these people actually have opinions). You can usually get hold of them in forums, on ICQ, IRC or yahoo! messenger
